Giving Your Packaging a Second Life

The excitement of unboxing a beautiful new product—is one of life’s small joys. But once you’ve admired your purchase, you’re often left with a pile of packaging. What now?

As we ship out our first orders, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we designed our packaging to be kinder to the earth—and some simple ways you can give it a second life.

Designed with Less in Mind

We believe that less is more when it comes to packaging. Here’s how we approached it:

FSC-Certified Paper

All our paper-based materials are responsibly sourced and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), ensuring they meet environmental and social standards.

Minimal Packaging, and a second life

We use just enough outer material to safely get your item from us to you—no frills or excess. Inner packaging is a reusable bag, while our thank you cards are made in collaboration with Seed Paper Indonesia; plantable cards that grow into a Spinach Plant. Wherever possible, we’ve scaled things down to keep our footprint small.

Simple and Logo Free

Apart from our packing tape, we intentionally kept our exterior packaging is simple and logo-free, so you can reuse it easily—whether it’s for mailing a parcel, organizing your home, or wrapping a gift.

Small Steps, Big Impact

At WASTD, we encourage both individual and collective action. While we focus on what we can do as a business, we also believe in the power of small, mindful steps you can take to adopt a more conscious attitude towards consumption and make a positive impact.

  • Keep for Reuse

Need to organize a drawer or gift a friend? A repurposed box, tied with a little twine or ribbon, makes for an elegant and eco-friendly wrapping solution.

  • Get Crafty

Turn old packaging into material for creative projects! For fun DIY activities, from kids' crafts to decor, giving new life to what might otherwise be waste.

  • Pass it On

Use apps like Olio to pass it on, or check out Package Pals & ZWPI, platforms that take donations connects businesses with packaging resources.

  • Recycle Responsibly

Make sure everything is clean, and flattened before putting into the blue bins

  • Rethink Expectations

A simple change could be refusing new packaging whenever possible from brands, encouraging a more mindful approach to consumption.

Whether it’s rethinking packaging, getting creative with repurposing, or passing on materials to others, every small action adds up. If any of these ideas resonate with you, we’d love to see how you’re making a difference. Share your thoughts or tag us in your efforts!
